"Distorted"
2023 AAS Graduation Capstone Project

The theme 'CRACTED' was combined with inspiration drawn from the enchanting flow of watercolor spreading in water. To create garments embodying the organic and fluid essence of inspiration, thin muslin was chosen as a medium. By randomly removing threads from the muslin, a texture was created resembling the movement of ink spreading in water. To convey the unpredictable nature of the paint spreading, a scratch technique was employed to create texture. Inside the garment, a bodysuit made of muslin serves as the base garment. Wrapping wire around mid-weight muslin, a structure is created through the wire to reflect flow and curves.
Observing the dispersion of ink underwater and capturing the moment reveals similarities with the swirling patterns of eddies. In both cases, there exists a sense of fluidity and unpredictability without a fixed form, reflecting the rationality of nature existing in diverse forms and shapes. Inspired by this, a garment following the direction of the wire is created, allowing the fabric to change shape with each wear.
